You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family.....and for that I am forever grateful!

I have grown up hearing this infamous statement, "you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family." Boy, I sure am glad that this is the case, because I don't think I could have picked such a compatible group of individuals. I mean don't get me wrong, my family sure isn't perfect, as we all are all flawed human beings, but on the other hand, the Lord sure has blessed our home with so much laughter and unforgettable memories! To know that our Savior, the master mind behind this indescribable creation was the One who so diligently hand-picked each and every one of us to make this thing called a family. I believe that the Lord is constantly willing and ready to teach us new things everyday. As my chapter of college will soon come to a close at the end of December, lately, I have been reflecting on these past 4...well 4 1/2 years of my life. :) If there is one thing that has been one of the biggest challenges of college, it has been learning to rely on the Lord more, #1, getting used to not seeing family for extended periods of time and #3, realizing how INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE I am to call myself a "Masterson." I know it sounds real corny, but I did not realize, until I got to college, how many families have been broken up and how much of an impact the Mommy AND the Daddy has on an individual. So this blog is for the 4 most important people in my life: Dad, the one and ONLY man who makes me laugh till I cry and will ALWAYS be concerned about the safety of his family; Mom, the person in my life who knows me best and who I can honestly say, it's SOOO crazy how alike we are! Adam, besides Dad, you are seriously one of the smartest individuals I know and to think that we came from the same parents is just humorous; the Lord certainly does have a sense of humor....You're the writer/teacher and total book worm :) as I am the creative, artsy one who can't stand the thought of sitting still to read a book haha. Then there's the newest member of our family, my sister I've always prayed for, sweet April. Girl, I am so thankful for you and I just get tickled to think how not only do I have a sister now, but we wear the same size clothes and shoes; that just goes to show that the Lord hears even our smallest prayers! :) You have been such a blessing to Adam, you are more than he could have ever asked for and our whole family is just so blessed by your presence and I speak for us all, we sure do love our April Masterson!

I realize I just wrote a small book as I blog for today. However, I encourage all you fellow bloggers to stop and think today how your family has impacted your own life, tell them about it and most importantly, PRAISE GOD FOR THEM! :)

  1. You're thankful we wear the same size?!? Please, I'm raiding your closet on a daily basis with what you left behind! I'm the one who is thankful! And for so much more... you're the bonus I got when I married your brother :) Love and miss you much....
